Don’t Overextend Yourself for Others

Being kind, friendly, and generous with your time is a beautiful quality. It builds warmth and meaningful connections across teams and personal relationships. However, when we constantly try to please everyone, give more time than we have, or always make ourselves available at our own expense, we risk burning out and being taken for granted.

Not everyone values effort equally. Some people naturally become accustomed to your constant availability, your attention, and your energy. Once your extraordinary effort becomes the baseline expectation, genuine appreciation slowly fades.

This does not mean we should become cold or stop being good to others. It simply means we must cultivate and maintain healthy boundaries. Respect your own focus, time, and mental clarity enough to know when to step back and say no.

True professional and personal relationships are built on mutual effort, understanding, and shared respect, never on one-sided exhaustion.

Be kind and helpful, but don't lose yourself trying to keep everyone else comfortable.
