Don’t Overextend Yourself for Others
Being kind, friendly and entertaining is a beautiful quality. It shows warmth and generosity. However, when we constantly try to please others, give more time than we have, or always make ourselves available just to keep people happy, we risk being taken for granted. Not everyone values effort equally. Some people become used to your presence, your attention and your energy and once it becomes expected, appreciation slowly fades. This does not mean we should stop being good to others. It simply means we must maintain healthy boundaries. Respect yourself enough to know when to step back. True relationships are built on mutual effort, understanding and respect, not one sided effort. Be kind, but don’t lose yourself trying to keep everyone else comfortable.
